Our cooperation with the German Embassy and Consulates in China has ended.

Since February 20, 2019 TLScontact is no longer accepting visa applications on behalf of the German missions in China.

Applicants whose applications are still processed by the German missions should contact the German missions regarding their application status.

The website and locations of the new service provider for visa applications are published through the website of the Embassy of Germany.

Application process

Simple steps to obtain a Schengen visa to Germany

Please follow these steps in order to apply for a Schengen visa. A Schengen visa allows a maximum stay of 90 days within a period of 180 days in the Schengen countries. Germany must be your main travel destination.

If you plan to stay more than 90 days in Germany, please apply for a national visa at the respective German Diplomatic mission.

Step 1: Choose your travel purpose

Read the list of documents which need to be submitted with your visa application based on your travel purpose and prepare the documents carefully. Please always choose the correct travel purpose.

Step 2: Fill out the application form and create your user account

Please create your personal user account and log into your account.

Please complete the following application form in full. Print a copy of all pages, sign it and bring it with you when attending your visa appointment. For more information, read the user guide or the launch assistant directly on the website.

If you still need support with the filling of application form, we are pleased to offer you our form filling assistance service when you submit your application in our visa application centre. The use of our service is voluntary and is provided at an extra cost.

Step 3: Make an appointment

Make an appointment to submit your application at the visa application centre. Personal appearance is mandatory for all visa applicants unless you are exempted from biometric data capture. You can authorize a representative to submit the application on your behalf. Please print out your appointment confirmation letter, as you will need to present this document when you attend your appointment. For groups of more than 5 applicants, you will need to contact our customer representatives to make an appointment after completing your online registration.

There are no long waiting times for obtaining an appointment. Appointments are available within 2 working days.

Step 4:  Submit your application in the visa application centre

You can submit your visa application in person or authorize a representative to submit the application on your behalf.

  1. Please arrive on time for your appointment with the appointment confirmation letter. If you are late or you fail to attend your appointment, you will be required to make a new appointment.
  2. An extensive range of Added Value Services is available to facilitate your application submission process.
  3. Your application and supporting documents will be checked for completeness according to the requirements of the German Diplomatic mission and your biometric data will be captured. The visa and service fees are paid in the visa application centre. After the completion of these steps, your application is transferred to the German Diplomatic mission for decision making.

You can track your application at any time by visiting your personal user account.

Step 5: Collect your passport

After the German Diplomatic mission has made a decision on your visa application, your passport will be returned to the visa application centre. You will be notified by SMS as soon as the passport arrives. You can then collect your passport in person or you can authorize a representative to collect it on your behalf. If you have chosen the Express Delivery Service, your passport will be sent to you directly.
