Our cooperation with the German Embassy and Consulates in China has ended.

Since February 20, 2019 TLScontact is no longer accepting visa applications on behalf of the German missions in China.

Applicants whose applications are still processed by the German missions should contact the German missions regarding their application status.

The website and locations of the new service provider for visa applications are published through the website of the Embassy of Germany.

Processing time

In accordance with Article 23 of the Visa Code, Directive 2004/38 applications shall be decided on within 15 calendar days of the date of the lodging of an application which is admissible in accordance with Article 19. That period may be extended up to a maximum of 30 calendar days in individual cases, notably when further scrutiny of the application is needed or in cases of representation where the authorities of the represented Member State are consulted. Exceptionally, when additional documentation is needed in specific cases, the period may be extended up to a maximum of 60 calendar days.

Provided your application is correct and complete, the average processing time for short-stay individual applications of Chinese nationals traveling to Germany is 48 hours from time of submission to the visa application centre for business visa and three working days for all other visa purposes, excluding weekends and public holidays.

The application is transferred to the visa section either on the same day or the following workday. If the application is submitted in a visa application centre of a city without German consular presence (Wuhan, Xi’an, Kunming, Shenzhen, Fuzhou, Changsha, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Chongqing, Jinan) it might take 1 to 3 additional workday(s) on average due to the postal delivery of applications to the competent consular authority.
